At The Bridal Bar, we’ve had the pleasure of planning weddings rooted in tradition, elegance, and sometimes a little bit of fantasy. Suhani and Chris’s wedding was a true reflection of their unique love story—one that began in an online video game and culminated in a heartfelt celebration at Vancouver’s charming Cecil House.
From Gaming to "I Do"
Suhani, from Vancouver, and Chris, from Kentucky, met in the digital world and began a long-distance relationship filled with gaming sessions, a handful of real-life visits, and eventually a fairytale proposal at a renaissance fair—complete with knight and maiden costumes. From the very beginning, it was clear their wedding would be anything but ordinary.

A Touch of Final Fantasy
When they approached us with the idea of incorporating a Final Fantasy theme into their day, we were intrigued. Admittedly, it wasn’t a theme we were familiar with, but that’s the beauty of what we do. We dove into research, consulted decor experts, and even got input from a gamer brother or two to ensure we understood the tone and aesthetics. The goal wasn’t a full-blown themed wedding—it was about tasteful nods and meaningful details.
The Perfect Venue: Cecil House
The charming Cecil House suited their theme and vibe perfectly. With its historic character and cozy warmth, it provided a storybook setting for their celebration. It also offered amazing photo opportunities both inside and out—from intimate interior shots to romantic outdoor portraits.
Whimsical Decor & Romantic Details
The decor featured whimsical touches: miniature potion bottles at the cocktail tables, mossy accents and forest mushrooms in the floral arrangements (beautifully designed by La Flore), and warm twinkle lights throughout the venue. The florals were stunning—a mix of whites, blushes, reds, and natural greenery that added richness and romance. Twinkle lights from Ellssi Rentals cascaded across the dance floor, creating a magical, enchanted forest feel.
A Ceremony to Remember
One of the most memorable moments was Suhani walking down the aisle to orchestral arrangements from Final Fantasy. For those unfamiliar with the game, the music simply sounded like stunning classical pieces played by violins. It was elegant, heartfelt, and perfectly set the mood.
A Celebration Across Borders
The couple’s love brought together guests from both sides of the border, with family flying in from the U.S. and Canada. Suhani’s roots in Sri Lanka were honoured through subtle cultural elements woven into the day, adding richness without disrupting the flow.
Suhani looked every bit the fantasy princess in her lace ballgown, complete with bejewelled sneakers tucked beneath the layers. A genuinely good time was had by all—laughs were shared, memories made, and guests danced the night away.
